 Hello everyone.

If you have a website, you need traffic, and lots of it.  If you’re not getting enough traffic your site is like a little island out in the middle of the vast sea that no one knows about. Who will rescue you? Who will even know you exist?

If you build it they will come does not always apply. You can build the most beautiful and functional website ever and without the traffic you need, you’re never going to get it off the ground. Yes there are millions of sites and site owners but most are promoting their own sites and the competition to get visitors is enormous!

Don’t fret. There is help available in the form of thousands of free traffic exchange partners who are willing and able to provide you with the traffic. But on the other hand, there are some who are just not as effective as others.

So how can you tell the difference?

First of all, look for the ones that don’t give away so much that they go face down in a short amount of time. When an exchange gives away hundreds of credits to start they often will have members who rely on the free credits and only sign up and surf for a short amount of time and then run out of credits and stop.

What does this mean to you? Aren’t free credits a good thing?

Well yes and no…

They’re good for the owners who are trying to start a new exchange and want to get members fast.

But for you, the member, it can mean that you’re not getting as many site views and members aren’t surfing as much as they would if they needed to earn the credits by surfing.

Also the owner who gives away too much eventually gets discouraged by the number of members who are becoming increasingly inactive. So they either try to give away even more to attract more new members and it causes a vicious cycle, or they simply let their domain name go when it’s time to renew because they never have enough members who are willing to either surf and earn credits or pay a small fee to buy more. The hosting and other bills start piling up with no active and paying members who will support the site and help the owner to pay their bills and the site goes nosedown in a few months never to be seen again.

So when choosing an exchange, look at the long term. Are you going to be willing to take the time  to learn the program and surf and be an active participant in the games and contests? Is the exchange set up to provide you with a way to earn the traffic or will it have long term negative effects on it’s membership?

Seek an exchange that gives you a minimal amount of credits to start and then gives you bonus credits for being active. This will help to insure the long term survival of the exchange and a good strong and active membership that will serve you for years to come.
