Free Organic Website traffic Starts Here
Why do you keep pounding us about keywords????
Well…. How do you find anything on the Internet? You type in a few "Key Words" in a search box and hit enter. Right?
Do you usually find what you are searching for? Sometimes…… Why only sometimes? Because your mind works different than the mind of the people adding the content to their sites and placing the Keywords, Tags, Search terms, or what ever else you want to call them. The all do the same thing…… match up to the "key words" you just typed into your favorite search engine!
Single keywords or tags are general and do get a lot of searches, but are general and do not target your visitors. Search the word "buy". It generally means you want to buy something, but what? This is where "long tail" search terms come into play. As the term suggests, they are made up of more than one word, like "buy a new computer". That narrows things down more but when you are looking for a computer to buy, aren’t you looking for a certain brand usually? Maybe even a certain model! (buy a Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop) So if you do a story on computers and want to link to an affiliate link selling computers, you want to narrow your story down to a certain brand or even model and link to that same models sales page. Spell the model out to the letter and number and you will get visitors looking for just that model. A much larger chance of a sale!…..
For best SEO your main search phrase should be part of your pages URL (web address). Word Press Blogs work great for this because if you set up permalinking correctly your blog title will be part of the URL. But if you use the calender feature or often write extra long titles using %postname% as your permalink structure will not work. Wordpress default is the post date I believe, which the calander feature needs. You have to decide how you want your ost links to look and what other features are important to you.
Next your keywords should be in your headings (the hedining of each different section of your post) short posts won’t need more than 1 or 2 hedings.
Then be sure your keywords are in your content! Search engines will downgrade your ranking for listed keywords not found in your copy. It comes down to …… How would you feel if you worked hard to find what you wanted and entered the perfict keyword and came up with a page full of something totally different?
That is why the search terms you use NEED TO BE RESEARCHED AND THOUGHT OVER CAREFULLY!!!
HANG ON! There is one more reasone to carefully research your keywords, tags or search terms!
Would you rather compete with a few thousand websites for your visitors or a few million? Sure, maybe some of the terms will show fewer searches but you may actually have a chance to see all of those searchers! Fighting for the first page of a search term that has over 2 million ocorances in a search, if you are reading this post…….. you will never see one visitor from that keyword or term. Now if you find a term with only a few thousand ocorances and you are using this blog network, you will probably see your term on the first page of Google the next day if done correctly.
An easy tool to find both the number of searches and how many compedetors you will have for any keyword or phrase use Googles Free Keyword Tool
It is easy to use long tail search terms an SEO to rank high on search engines and get loads of free website traffic! It just takes a little work…….
I hope I haven’t confused you more. I know this is a complex subject and I sure do not know everything about SEO and keywords, but I do know how much web traffic I can drive to my sites with well researched keywords. I hope you will find out more and comment because this is just the way I see it and live to see how my ideas look through others eyes.
