Free Web Traffic

Maybe I just have more than my share of problems with the free scripts and free blog themes.

I know I am not a college educated programmer or even webmaster but  I can figure things out pretty quickly and can usually troubleshoot and repair a php script  after a bit of reading. So why do I have so many little "glitches" ?

I believe it is the free scripts and themes I use. Lets face it, the free stuff is not going to be cutting edge!  As fast as things change on the web a free script or theme doesn’t have a chance. It seems every time I get the bugs worked out of my WordPress Blog The alert to update the script shows up again! Then the plugins or themes I have been using won’t work and have to be changed ……. the circle continues……….

The people coming up with the themes are doing a great job! You can get some killer themes for free! Man, I would hate to be the authors though! Imagine the work trying to keep up with the upgrades and bugs?  These people are building and maintaining these plugins and themes out of the goodness of their hearts! ……. And I have trouble finding time to post in my blogs

Oh ya, the reason I started this little rant…….. It seems on most of the blogs I have run that the theme screws up after a period of time. I have tore them apart looking for a bad piece of code and have even tried to replace the complete theme! Sometimes a fix will work for a while and others things just get worse.

I have learned that keeping my blog simple will keep things working right longer. The more addons, plugins and fancy dewhickies in my theme, the more trouble I have and the quicker the trouble starts!

Of course it really comes down to why I started this blog network.

Its the content on your website or blog that will bring you traffic and keep bringing it in the future not the dewhickies, and WordPress is still the way to get it seen even if I  do have to keep changing my free themes. I just wish I had more time to post and less time script reading……. I guess I should have joined someone else’s blog network instead of building my own, Na!!!! Thats no fun!

Well, I am off to work on the little link category problem and a little more set up on my new top secret project…..

If you want more traffic, Go play in the middle of the road!
