Traffic Drops in Sept.
Our traffic has been falling during the last month! I made some changes and started doing more "smart post" (just think about it, do extra research, and use smart linking techniques). All I believe I have talked about before. I also got involved with other projects and sidetracked a little. Must have been the weather because I noticed I wasn’t the only one…. lol
I corrected a couple small glitches in the script that even I hadn’t noticed until the traffic kept dropping and I investigated closer. This seemed to bring the traffic up right away. Of course the posts I made brought the main page back up to usual levels. Seems all is well in the script dept……..
What We Can Do About A Drop In Traffic
I have added a feature that lists all blogs. I have this set to list the newly updated blog first. To keep your blog at the top post often! I will cut the number of blogs listed down soon so not posting for a few days will drop you off the main page. I see most Free Web Traffic bloggers are posting in reasonable fashion again so our traffic will rise quickly for all blogs!
Key words are a bad subject…. ( I am a slacker in this department to) we need to keep up and use words and phrases that will bring in between a few hundred and the low thousands a week, these will be easy to get ranked on and it only takes a few to earn you a lot of traffic to your blog! A great tool to research the competition and traffic for your chosen keywords is the free Google keyword tool Google Keyword Tool. It also comes down to keeping your copy relevant to the rest of your posts. Another area where it is easy to wonder…. Getting your head around your complete blog and which directions it is heading or can head in is a great help. Mapping it out on paper where you can see it works well for me. A few of the bloggers and I are using FeedBurner for our RSS feed which has driven our feed stats through the roof! A free service that is easy to set up and realy helps boost RSS traffic. Another feature I just found out about yesterday is FeedBurner has a site stats option! (still free!!) This should work as good as the FireStats I tried on our system and couldn’t use because of the system demands already. Grab a feedburner account account now and start a new traffic flow to your blog. You will need it later when I have our "hub" site ready. One of the new traffic options I will be offering through it will be a list builder through an email post alert system using FeedBurner. Top Bloggers on the network!
One of the sweetest bloggers I know is blowing everyone away with her blog! She had dropped off in traffic last month also (maybe an internet trend?) But is hitting it hard already this month averaging 300 + hits a day on her home page with 93 RSS hits so far! Hollyd is the #1 traffic getter so far this month followed by Free Web Traffic (this page) and its feed. Close behind is bode201, Holly’s feed, jgeorge’s feed, kiwigal, steveng’s feed. This can change quickly! Anyone can move to the top within hours! It looks like this could be a record month!
