Our Alexa rank went down to 223 973 this weekend. Quite a blow! We were at 213,000 a couple days ago! That is what competition and a little drop in posting can do.
Nothing to worry about though, we will bounce right back and go higher! Our members have some great blogs going! One problem is the time of year, everyone is pushing to get the holiday sales and creating massive competition in the top ranked sites! The good side is they have no weight at all and trickle off to nothing in a short time opening up the top spots again which we will move right into.
The other change is I set the main blogs home page back to the static page and will be reworking it to gain Google page rank. The posts will show on a new posts page and I also added the recent posts widget to the sidebar for easy access to the most recent posts.
I hope all members and new readers will take a peek at my first video explaining how my traffic system Web TraffiCircle works. You can tell I don’t work in Hollywood! I hope it explains how everyone wanting it can get targeted web traffic with Web TraffiCircle. I plan to hold a new broadcast every week at the same time. More Info on this weeks Web TraffiCircle Training Video Here We are experimenting with the best media to use for training and promotion so things might change as we go.
These changes will help us all!

I have been enjoying a quiet month with very few problems with the blog network after the last update of WordPress.
Of course I did notice the traffic falling off which was mostly to do with my working on other projects and not posting in the main blog as often as I should have been. I guess some of the members were slowing also. But last night after a long day of catching up with my webmaster duties on of our bloggers contacted me with a problem.
Because of my slacking, I had not noticed that we could no longer post videos on our blogs! It all stemmed from the problem we had from overloading the system when Firestats were in use. I cleaned out all files and directories and kept the blognet install to a minemun. I had left out the hack needed for posting videos!

The FireStats seems to be working fine so far (1 day). Traffic jumped back up. Its funny how a small script problem will drop traffic stats. Of course we had a drop when I shut down a couple hundred spam blogs or splogs. It has been climbing slowly since. Slower now because I have put the splogs IP’s in the banned list. Firestats works great for finding the spam IP’s I noticed tonight, it looks like some of the banned IP’s are still trying to signup. Bots aren’t very smart I guess
I will have to get tougher on the spammers as we grow, but right now they are bringing in some pretty targeted traffic. I’m sorry to say they are better at selecting tags than most.
!!! Everyone must remember the tags or search terms are how people find your copy through search engines so they are very important! They also have to be in the copy! I will work on some more posts on tag research and try to set up a live workshop if I get enough interest.
(Check out the Polls in the sidebar to the right and vote YES in the new Tags Training one if you want a live tags training.)

Fire Stats has been back on for 1/2 an hour with no problems!
It may go back down but I have the script author helping so I will make it work. (If everyone is quiet maybe it will keep working!)
NOT!
This is a blog network! Keep posting! Work the scrips and server!
By the way? I have just documented a few little problems anyone can have when operating their website or blog on their own hosting. I have not had to contact my host yet but if the problem arises again, that is the next step!

After weeks of trying to integrate and keep FireStats working I had to remove the script.
The tracking takes to much bandwidth and space for our server and slows the WordPress even more than normal. Also there were cases of members not being able to post in their blogs at all!
FireStats is a great program and I hope to be able to use it in the future. I have asked the people at FireStats and WordPress MU about our problem. It seems FireStats has not yet been configured for WordPress MU but will work fine on regular Wordpress blogs. I got the word they are working on it and requested notification when it is ready.
