Is Google page rank important in SEO land?

I’m not so sure it really matters to the search engines, but maybe.

I know I pay attention to it as a reference. I have read articles on page rank by marketers and SEO experts like Jonathan Ledger that say its not so important.

I  tend to agree if you are a marketer moving from one hot product to the next, giving it all you have for a month or so then moving on. But for someone with their own products I think Page Rank is important and can be achieved fairly easily.

How do I know this?

TrafficBlogNet has been trying to keep ahead of "Splog" or spam blogs by adding IP’s to the Banned list and leaving at least one blog for them to use. As everything goes, I was only making more work for myself which took time from building member traffic and SEO. NOT FAIR!

I marked about 250 blogs as spam a week ago and heard no complaints from users so they were deleted today. I know there are more on the network and need to go through every blog to see how it is set up.  Real bloggers don’t worry! the Splogs are just ads…… and usually  have one main ad with lots of other unrelated ads.  If you have written a post you are ok and your blog will still be here next time you login.

Yes, this dropped the traffic a little but never fear! Our networks Alexa rank is still climbing fast! Last week we were in the 600,000’s and this week the high 400,000’s .  The little de-spamming I did may slow us a tadd but will help in the long run. Like I have been preaching, the site content will be the base of all SEO.  The best content wins! A bunch of ad blogs is not what will win our blog network the quality visitors I plan to bring to members.

A blog I have had for quite a while, that I have changed around a few times (when I found the time) and have been zeroing down the different categories I have on it  just turned a Google Page Rank 1! I post local news, affiliate advertising tips, other marketing news, Information about affiliate products I am involved with on HereIsYours.com. Just about anything I feel like posting but try to keep things well categorized and of course be sure to research and properly do my tags and meta tags (with HeadSpace just like on the blognet). Take a look at it and see how I do it! I hope it will help you with your blog!

One reason I have this site now is because of JV’s. They Flooded the internet for a while! Every time i turned there was another JV ( Sorry, "Joint Venture" for those of you that haven’t heard of them). I was so sick of them! Besides they usually didn’t help me because I didn’t have a big list to get signups from and I didn’t have my own products. I got the guys a few signups on almost all I participated in. Not enough to do much for me.

Well I was talking to Reed Floren the other day (I am on almost every list he owns) because he thought my Bloggers might benefit from the new project he was working on. I think he may be right!

Auto Pilot Cash Streams is its name and I think this will work well for beginners to build their list and make at least some money even if you don’t have your own big list or products. I bet most of you have a bunch of friends in some communities you are a member of, right? Well there is one of your lists!  They even set up a schedule for you to follow to help you get signups!

You only have to do what you know how to do (well hopefully you will learn to do more) and even the greenest of marketers will be able to make this work. Even if you do end up like I have in the past, you won’t lose anything and will have been right in there marketing with the big guys!

As much as I don’t like JV’s…….. I think this can help you. Hopefully start an incoming cash flow and at very least getting a start building your list.  Check  Auto Pilot Cash Streams out and see if you don’t come up with the same opinion as I did!

No site problems today! The traffic is holding around 20,000 hits a day even with the problems the other day. So I did something else this weekend.

The first thing I have started working on is an ad server for the network. With this I will have a way to offer targeted advertising to anyone wanting to cash in on the traffic we are generating. The other side of this coin is blog members can sign up as publishers (kinda like Commission Junction) and match their content with advertisers products for targeted advertising. This will earn the publishers a per click commission. My way of thanking those of you that are bringing the sites ranking up.

I have it installed with some of my own affiliate ads loaded, they rotate in one small box in a sidebar. I will load all of my sponsors ads in soon. This will cut back the ad space on the main page ( I had way to many ads) and make the Traffic Blog Net home page a lot more professional and quicker loading. This will soon work for all members!

Another project I did this weekend was a little social marketing on some of the sites I am a member and built a Squidoo lens.

Those of you that haven’t heard of the power of Squidoo yet is missing out on a lot of traffic. Squidoo works the same as TBN only is very big with high ranks.  I have not had time to research enough to do well on Squidoo but have seen the benefits of a good lens. My "Membership called Success" lens was once ranked under 15,000 (the lower the number the better, I would call a lens under 100,000 doing well).

I had image problems (seems everybody wants different size images) and got sidetracked when researching (updating social sites) so the lens is in infancy but is started. I will ad to it as I have time. I encourage you to view my lens on website traffic, as it has information and links I have not yet posted here and sign up so you can build your own lens. Well I have the billing situation all fixed with backup in place  but guess what!

Yup! That as not the problem!

I mentioned before about the hazards of adding  plugins or "Creature Comforts". Well I did it again! I added a plugin for a cool new comment management site that I know would help the networks  traffic and ranking.

Guess what a non compatible plugin or script does to the blog platform. It shuts down the install script!

Anyway…… everything is all fixed and anyone can signup now and actually get their blog installed!

The uninstalled blogs were deleted because I couldn’t  re - run  the same info to install them, weird eh? The script said they weren’t installed but they wouldn’t install because the script saw the info in the database and thought they were installed. Ya that was about how my night went!

OK I did it! The Signups in the last 20 hours or so have not been installed and I did not catch it till now! My fault!

Something about you have to pay the bill! LOL!

I had some unauthorized activity on the credit card that pays my hosting bill, so i shut it of last week. Guess what? The hosting bill is due yesterday and the card is shut off!

I am sorry for any inconvenience, the bill is paid (lesson learned, set  it up with backup!) and the blogs should be installed anytime now. If not. Please signup again tomorrow.

Things are going very well for Traffic Blog Net and I let my guard down for a minute. I now have  a safety automatically set to work in the even of a problem.

Everyones blog that was already live had no downtime. I am monitoring the script and hosting to be sure the installer goes back into service without a hitch.

Hey Bloggers! We topped 20,000 hits yesterday!

Traffic Blog Net is coming up on its 2 month birthday and we are adding on more than 10,000 hits a day every month so far!

It looks like most everybody is doing their share! Traffic just keeps rising! Members keep posting! I am having trouble staying #1 in the network traffic! I am loving it! The members are surprising me!

We have been testing a couple of things each of you can do to boost your traffic even more and it seems to be working very well for the members that are testing them.  One is Link Referrial . An easy way to get targeted traffic by reviewing other sites, others in turn review yours by searching in a category that they are interested in (the same as you do when reviewing others). These people are also likely to comment on your blog. Comments will help your search engine ranking because the search engines see the comments and believe you must have great site content  to interest people enough to leave comments.

It is also pretty easy (depending on your chosen category) to rank high on Link Referrial  which will put you on the first page of your sites category which will get it seen when others are viewing and reviewing sites to earn themselves credits and rank in their category.

Others we have found to work well are My Blog Log, Blogrush and Entre Card with Entre Card just joining with Sez Who which is a blog comment  manager which they say will make it easy for members viewing your site to leave a comment plus ads credits for each comment! I hope it doesn’t entice spam comments! We will See! Any TBN member can give it a try by signing up through the links on this post.

We Are over the 10,000  hits a day mark! Only one day in this first week of July did the stats fall below the 10,000 mark and the highest was almost 15,000 hits!

I am going to be honest and tell you all that I do not like some of the blogs content. Plain ads……. Not what will build the network. You know who you are and what you are doing. I have followed some of the links you put on your blog here to find that blog had been deleted or blocked. I keep adding blocked domains just to see new ones pop up. I have no idea how you can come up with so many IP addy’s. Don’t worry….. they will be deleted as I get time… Before they hurt the traffic flow for the real bloggers .

Enough bitchen and back to traffic…..

If you think you are getting shorted on traffic to your blog… do a little search term research… I guarantee your traffic will increase with only a few of the right search terms. i did a post on search term research the other day. it should get you started in the right direction. Read it here

If you are committed to your online success you will have to learn the basics of what they call SEO (search engine optimization). Google has an easy to understand page on their algorithm

Na! You don’t have to be a pro but knowing the basics of how a person finds your web page from their computer in the quad zillions  of links to sites on the internet will help point a few mill your way.

Most marketers and newbie webmasters have no idea what key words or search terms to use or even want to find out! They put their page up with words and terms they think will work. Well sorry guys ….. you have to do a little research! Its not hard and once you find the tools that work the best for you it won’t take long. Researching search terms should be the first part of researching your new article, and should be done for every article or post. One well researched search term can mean the difference between a few hits and millions of hits.

Now the next most common mistake is…… picking the search terms that bring back the most results. That is like jumping into the middle of the ocean……. it will be prrrreeeeety hard to find you! Try to find terms that bring less than 1 million results back. Next you need to find a webmaster tool to find the amount of searches are done on your selected terms Google and Wordtracker both have ones you can use for free. You will find most Highly searched terms usually have quite a bit of competition,  yes other people know about this! Things change on a daily basis though, so you never know! Search Engine Watch lists here the hottest ways to find out what is being searched. I suggest finding search terms with a few hundred hits a week up (less is ok to if they are very targeted to your article). You don’t need thousands or millions of searches a day. Most terms that get that many are not targeted enough anyway.  Just 3 targeted search Terms can bring in  hundreds or thousands of hits a week! And these hits will be from people looking for your information or products if you chose your terms well. This means more buyers!  Posting Daily on your blog will also make the search engines take notice so if you ad 3 well researched terms on every post……. Traffic will climb in a hurry!

With that said there is one more suggestion I will make. Use a small, new, and growing blog network for your blog. Why? Because getting your site seen by the search engines will take quite  a while even using well researched search terms and posting daily. With a blog network you get the rank of the network domain and traffic rank from all other members. A new network can get your search terms on top of searches within minutes sometimes.

Big established blog networks  like Wordpress and Blogger can work the same way but you have the competition of the bloggers in that network to beat out before your terms get noticed on searches. Still can be done but takes even more work.
